Find Screen

There are numerous ways to move to the "Find" screen, a left click to any station on the main (or home) screen listing will cause SEARCHTV to display the "Find" screen with the details of the station selected displayed in the "Find" screen list box. If you click the SEARCHTV heading that begins with "Call", SEARCHTV will display the "Find" screen with the reference station selected. Of course, "Find" is also a menu item located on the main screen.

Selecting Stations:

Note that station K16EL has been selected. Its operating parameters are shown in the Find Screen listing box.

Clicking a station's call letters on the left side of the "Find" screen is the way to display any other station within the given channel study. The reference station for this study is KSDM-D (Ref is attached to the first listing in the left-hand side list.) A single left click on any call letter in the call letter list box brings up its listing.

Editing a station listing:

Click the "Change" menu item to drop down the change parameters menu and then select from "Call Letters", "Channel", "Power", Ant Height" and "Coordinates." An input box will appear asking for the new parameter value. (Note: when multiple stations are shown in the "Find Screen" list box only the station that appears first in the listing box can be edited. If a station listing you wish to change is is not at the top, double-clicking the listing will move it to the top.)

The following screen appears in the "Pro" version of SearchTV:

For the Pro version the antenna pattern effective field azimuth chart will automatically appear for all stations that have directional antennas. To edit the pattern simply click on the azimuth chart and the main pattern screen will be displayed.

Click the "Map" command button to have SearchTV Pro map out the pertinent arc of the interference signal contour of the reference station in its relationship with the protected signal contour of a selected database station. The interference signal contour is plotted in red while the protected signal contour is plotted in white. Note that if you drag the corner of the "Find" screen frame the entire screen can be enlarged including the map and all its details. The size of the find screen will remain enlarged until the program is closed.

The scale of the map can be changed using the "Scale" slider.

Checking the "radials" check box will cause the program to display ten degree radials from the transmitter point of the reference station. The radials can can be used to determine the azimuth span along which a given pattern must be adjusted to prevent contour overlap.

The "City" check box causes the map to display larger cities. These cities do not have city names labels attached.

The "Cities" check box causes the program to plot all cities with the programs 32,000 individual cities database.

The "Coverage" check box causes SearchTV Pro to display the city grade coverage of the selected TV station. (The program always plots coverage when the reference station is selected.

The "Clip" button causes the displayed map to be written to the clipboard for incorporation into other documents.

The "Print" button will bring up a window asking for titles and whether the printer output should be black and white or color. The name of the default printer can also be set from this screen.

The "Close" button closes the "Map" display screen and returns to the "Find" text screen display.

Find:

The command bottom labeled "Find " causes the program to look for matches to the word placed into the query text box located near the top of the "Find" page form. The query procedure will match any word it finds in all stations within the job file created for the instant channel study.

The "Call" button causes the program to find a database station by call letters. If the "General" button is clicked SEARCHTV will find each record with words that match search string.

The "All" button will find all matches and list them so you can scroll through them. The "One" button will display only the first record found matching the search string.

The following menu items can be found in both SearchTV and SearchTV Pro.

Exchange:

Use this menu item to exchange a selected station with the reference station. In other words the study is redone using the selected station's parameters as the reference station.

Delete Station:

This menu item will remove a selected station from a study.

Undelete Station:

This item will restore a "removed" station to the list of stations in the study. When a station is removed, brackets are placed around its call sign.

List Deletes:

"List Deletes" will fill the listing box with all stations you have deleted from a study during the current setting. To "Restore" a deleted or removed station, double click the listing if its not listed first in the listing box. Once double-clicked the listing will be moved to the first position where it can be "restored" by using the "Restore" menu item.

Details:

Click the details button or the background of the "Find" list box to cause the program to display calculation details used to determine whether the station is short-spaced or not.

Exit:

This command button closes the "Find" screen.
